The BFI London Film Festival is one of the most popular and influential film festivals in the world. With many high profile premieres of both Hollywood and independent cinema, the festival aims to be both accessible and glamorous, giving starlets and punters the opportunity to shine on the red carpet. Our campaign for 2015 needed to encapsulate this.

Taking inspiration from the concept of film itself The Plant brought to life an identity for this year’s festival, which draws upon the beautiful lights, and textures of celluloid – the bedrock of film itself. Each layer of coloured perspex relates to the feeling of motion brought to life when light is shone through film. The spotlighting and vibrant red colour dance together, to illustrate the glamour seduction and the exciting nature of the festival itself.

The bright, powerful image creates impact on the street and on the screen. The visual is bold, but not intimidating, allowing the audience to feel they can participate in the festival regardless of their film knowledge.

The moving image ident was shot to build a tease and reveal of the LFF logo.

The camera and lights move seductively over the surface of the perspex, suggesting a strut down the red carpet and spotlights searching the night sky.
BFI London Film Festival

We created a very simple sub-brand for the BFI London Film Festival Awards. It was a golden, star studded evening, with a hoard of Hollywood A-Listers propped in front of our work. Our personal favourite, the very talented, Cate Blanchett.
